The borough of Haringey in the heart of North London covers an area of more than 11 miles and is home to some 270,000 people. A diverse and vibrant borough, some 50% of Haringey’s population overall including three-quarters of young people are from ethnic minority backgrounds, with around 200 languages spoken in the borough.
Haringey is the fourth most deprived borough in London with clear gaps in health indicators between the richest and poorest areas – for example the gap in healthy life expectancy between the richest and poorest areas is 15 years for men and 17 years for women. Differences in patient satisfaction levels have also been recorded in line with the deprivation gap.
