On 21st July, we appeared at the London Kidney Network, where health services showcased their innovative work on kidney health.

There we presented a case study of our Chronic Kidney Disease Service Pilot, commissioned in response to high prevalence gaps of the disease in Haringey.

The pilot provided timely health screening, results, follow up, education and wellbeing advocacy.

This approach ensured that all elements of the disease were covered, from prevention to diagnosis and treatment.

The pilot put a lot of emphasis on boosting awareness among the Black African and Caribbean community, who were identified as being at a higher risk of CKD.

The service was a success, as it saw us carry out 424 health checks which resulted in 55 new diagnoses of CKD, and 240 other diagnoses.

Particularly crucial was the role of our Wellbeing Advocate who spend time 1 on 1 with patients to discuss lifestyle factors that contribute to CKD.

We were proud to be able to share this and more with several different health providers with their own CKD projects.

It was also a pleasure to hear from them and soak up their knowledge.
